Spring Painting

Finally, spring is here and you’re feeling motivated to redecorate that room you’ve been neglecting. First order of business- choosing paint colors. O.K., now you’re remembering why you’ve put off doing something with this room. Applying paint to walls requires a huge commitment to that color choice, so many of us stay in the beige zone just to be safe. If you want to add some color to your life, here are some ways to do it. Choose something from the space that will be a “jump off” point of inspiration to pull color choices, such as a dominant piece of artwork or large area rug. Using the color wheel approach will help determine if you want a complementary color scheme, or a more soothing analogous feel. Now, apply the 60/30/10 rule- 60% is the dominant color of the room, 30% is the secondary choice (maybe an accent wall, or introduced through furniture pieces or draperies) and 10% is the accent color, which provides a pop of visual interest and can be in the form of select accent pieces.

Share Holiday Memories

We all devote endless time and money in our attempt to acquire the perfect gifts and decorations to help us make the holiday season bright. If you’re hosting a holiday party for friends and family, I’ll venture to say that you’re probably feeling stressed and overwhelmed with the responsibility. Relax! Everything you need to have a great time is already within your reach. Long after the gifts received are a distant memory, it will be the laughter and stories shared that live on. Create lasting memories and a new tradition with a holiday journal. Everyone can share a story of a past holiday experience, and add something new. Take photos of all in attendance to include in the journal so memories will be vivid. Happy Holidays!
Living in the Future

The most significant trend in space planning is thinking ahead to accommodate ever-changing technology and lifestyles. Multi-function and flexibility are key factors for consideration. Just as a carpenter allows for electrical and plumbing installations, home builders are challenged to plan space for managing future systems. As technology continues to advance, we will all need to adopt new habits that will help us make better use of our space. Our home space is becoming increasingly more important to us. As newer building materials are used and new designs and technologies are developed, our homes will adapt to the new trends and lifestyles of our population. Choosing from the many options available to us should be a carefully managed decision.
Businesses Realize Huge Savings when Employees can Work from Home

There’s a downsizing trend underway at many small businesses. Shrinking staffs and more workers “telecommuting” has prompted a move to smaller offices. Owners say they’re saving money on real estate, office furniture and other expenses by letting employees work from home. Employers can be equally concerned about the lack of a designated home work space affecting productivity. Every home can accommodate a designated work space, no matter what the limitations seem to be. Would you want to work from home?
